The European Parliament, the European Commission and the Council representing the governments of the Member States have achieved an agreement on the revision of the Posting of Workers Directive.

The European Commission initiated negotiations over the amendment of the current regulation two years ago in order to guarantee wages and working conditions to posted workers that are equal to those applying to local workers. The current legislation does not oblige the employers posting workers to apply equal pay as they are solely obliged to respect the minimum wage of the host country but shall not pay more.

Details of the agreement are not known yet but a compromise has been achieved in all material issues, for instance that wages and working conditions of the host country shall be applied after 12 months upon posting which period may be extended with additional 6 months.

The amendment will not affect workers from the industry of transport and logistics who shall be subject to special regulations.
